About Beehive Members Protecting Member Interests

Beehive Members Protecting Members’ Interests was founded by members of Beehive Credit Union in response to Beehive's’ proposal to convert our credit union to a bank.  After learning more about the proposed conversion, we have come to believe that this conversion is not in the interests of the members. We are working to protect members’ good rates and member ownership by opposing this conversion.

Lori Christian Chavez is a 20 year member of Beehive Credit Union.  She is the mother of 10, grandmother of 7 and is the owner of a commercial construction company, a holding company and a non-profit company in Salt Lake County.   Lori served as PTA president at Oakwood Elementary School and Chairman of the Construction Industries Board for the State of Utah. She LOVES Beehive, it's employees, the service and the convenience.  They have been a loyal and faithful friend for 20 years.

Lori has stated, "I have no complaint with the employees or service, and I am not opposed to people making money.  I do not view my opposition to the conversion as being disloyal, rather, I wish for all members to be well informed when they cast their vote.  I can certainly move our accounts elsewhere if the time comes.  I just hate to see people  vote without all the facts and be ultimately unprepared for what certainly will follow."

Teri Dial has been a member of Beehive for 30+ years.  She is a mother of two, works part time in education and helps her husband run their fledgling business. As a Beehive Business Account Member, she values the low cost banking Beehive provides their business accounts knowing full well there would be additional fees she’d be paying as a Bank customer. Teri and her family greatly appreciate the wonderful service and friendships gained throughout the years at Beehive.

Research on the conversion issue leads Teri to find that a Mutual Savings Bank conversion or Bank conversion of any kind would not be in the best interest for Beehive Members. Educating members about the many sides to conversion so that they may be fully informed when they vote, is important to Teri because she believes in the one member one vote philosophy of credit unions.  She has stated that, “The outcome of this vote will be what the members want and that is what it should be.”
